Conway ranked most bike-friendly city in Central Arkansas

Central Arkansas’s only Silver-level community

Only 39 communities in the United States have a higher rating

As part of our community’s commitment to be a great place to live and thrive, Conway applied for the League of American Bicyclists’ prestigious Bicycle Friendly Community award. It has long been a goal of Conway to have a best-in-class transportation system that serves everyone, and that includes building a community more accessible by bike.

Since achieving Bronze in 2011, Conway has continued to make positive strides in the right direction. Today marks the next step in our ongoing journey for continued improvement in the areas of accessibility, connectivity, and safety.

“I am thrilled and honored that Conway has been designated a Silver Level Bicycle Friendly Community,” said Mayor Bart Castleberry. “This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a safe and accessible environment for cyclists, promoting health and well-being, and fostering a vibrant community for all. With construction of the Connect Conway Greenway Trail on the horizon, let's continue pedaling towards a future where cycling is not just a mode of transportation, but a way of life that enhances the lives of everyone in our community.”

People across our community are biking more than ever, for commuting, for trips to the store or other errands, and for recreation. The Silver award recognizes Conway’s commitment to improving conditions for all people who bike through investments in bike education programs, bike events that promote and encourage people to choose biking, pro-bike policies, and bike infrastructure. We are pleased to celebrate this award and our achievements for building a better community together.

“Today, we celebrate 58 new and renewing Bicycle Friendly Communities that exemplify an ongoing commitment to make bicycling safe, comfortable, and accessible to all,” said Bill Nesper, executive director of the League of American Bicyclists. “This round of awards is a testament to the dedication of the growing network of changemakers who with the League are raising the standard of what it means to be a Bicycle Friendly Community.”
