City of Conway Announces Openings for 2027 Boards and Commissions
The City of Conway is now accepting applications for a variety of volunteer positions on its boards and commissions for the 2027 term. This annual opportunity allows Conway residents to become more involved in local government and work alongside city officials to improve the quality of life in our community.
Residents interested in serving are encouraged to review the available openings and apply for the board or commission that best matches their interests and experience. Applications must be submitted by Monday, November 2, 2026.
Airport Advisory Committee
Openings: 2 positions
Term: 4 years
Special Requirement: One position must be filled by a licensed pilot; the other is an at-large position.
This committee provides guidance on the management, operations, and development of Conway’s airport facilities. Meetings are held quarterly or as needed at Conway City Hall.
Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Board
Openings: 2 positions
Term: 3 years
The Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Board advises the City on maintaining Conway’s designation as a Bicycle-Friendly and Walk-Friendly Community. It supports initiatives aligned with the Safe Routes to Schools program.
Meetings take place on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
Community Engagement Council
Openings: 2 positions
Term: 4 years
Partial Openings: 1 position with a term ending December 31, 2027; 2 positions with terms ending December 31, 2028.
The Community Engagement Council fosters community engagement and promotes a positive cultural environment in Conway. It organizes events such as Fall Community Fest and the Community Conversations Roundtable.
Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
Conway Tree Board
Openings: 2 partial positions
Term: Through December 31, 2028
The Conway Tree Board was created by the Conway City Council to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of Conway, protect the health and safety of residents, and protect the environment through the development of a Community Forest Management Plan for the regulation of the planting, maintenance, removal, and protection of trees on public property within the City of Conway.
Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 4:30 p.m.
Historic District Commission
Openings: 2 positions
Term: 3 years
Positions: Members at large
The Robinson Historic District and the Old Conway Design Overlay District were created to enhance, protect, and preserve the aesthetics, sustainability, and historic nature and character of older residential areas in Conway by requiring new construction to conform to proper design standards.
Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Oak Grove Cemetery Board
Openings: 3 positions
Term: 5 years
Partial Opening: 1 position with a term ending December 31, 2028
This board assists in policymaking, cemetery upkeep, promotion, and historical record preservation.
Meetings are typically held on the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Faulkner County Extension Office.
Planning Commission
Openings: 2 positions
Term: 5 years
Partial Opening: 1 position with a term ending December 31, 2028
The Planning Commission reviews zoning requests, subdivision plats, and other planning-related matters.
Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m., with occasional committee meetings required.
Public Art Advisory Committee
Openings: 7 full positions
Term: TBD
The Public Art Advisory Committee strives to encourage an artistic Conway through the creation, acquisition, and/or display of community-centered art.
Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Robinson Cemetery Board
Openings: 2 partial positions
Terms: One position through December 31, 2028; one position through December 31, 2029.
The Robinson Cemetery Board was officially established in 2014 to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the cemetery. This board will help to preserve the history of the cemetery and to establish policies and procedures for record preservation.

- Limit absences to no more than three meetings in a 12-month rolling period.
