Duties include handling high stress emergency 911 calls and dispatching the appropriate police, fire, and animal welfare units.

Required Skills:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Able to perform several mission critical tasks simultaneously and accurately
  • Able to effectively and quickly make critical decisions and exercise good judgment
  • Able to understand and independently apply complex information to a variety of circumstances
  • Must have valid AR driver’s license & clean driving record
  • No felony convictions
  • Must be able to achieve certification through Arkansas Crime Information Center
  • Must be able to remain calm and think clearly in stressful situations
  • Must be willing to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating 12 hour shift (with every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Arkansas Crime Information Center certification is a plus
  • Previous work experience as a dispatcher and previous Police/Fire/EMS experience is preferred, but not required
  • One year multi-line telephone experience preferred
  • One year customer service experience or experience working with the public preferred
  • One year data entry or on the job computer experience preferred
